If the exhaust system is not maintained, you will run into exhaust system problems, the most common of which we will list below.

Damaged Tailpipe

One thing that can happen to your vehicle’s exhaust system is the tailpipe can get damaged. Frankly, it’s easy for this to happen because of where the tailpipe is located. It is underneath your automobile and it gets hit regularly by road debris. Replacing a damaged tailpipe is important to make certain that your exhaust system is functioning as it should be.

Excessive Engine Noise

Another sign that your exhaust system is overdue for service is excessive engine noise. This noise can be hissing or tapping coming from a leaking exhaust manifold gasket or loud rumbling because you have a hole in the muffler. If your engine has suddenly become very loud, bring your import to our shop so we can inspect the exhaust system and make any necessary repairs.

Gasoline Smells

Another sign that your exhaust system is malfunctioning is if you smell gasoline inside your automobile. You should never be able to smell your vehicle’s exhaust when you are driving your vehicle. If you can, there is a dangerous problem because you could be inhaling carbon monoxide. Have your exhaust system inspected immediately for leaks or clogs.

Noticeable Power Loss

If the exhaust system is leaking or clogged, there will be a noticeable power loss in the engine. Your vehicle’s acceleration will lag and you will have problems maintaining speed. This is because the engine is filling with exhaust gases because they are either leaking into it or backing up into the combustion chamber.

Overheating Engine

Unfortunately, if the exhaust manifold gasket is leaking, your engine will most likely overheat. This is because hot exhaust is being released into the engine. The exhaust is so hot that it can melt any plastic or rubber parts that are close to the exhaust manifold.

Reduced Fuel Economy

Finally, in order for your vehicle to run efficiently, it needs an efficient exhaust system. If your exhaust system is going bad, you will see a reduction in your automobile’s fuel economy.
